The North East has seen the biggest percentage cut to public sector jobs of all of England’s regions, according to new figures.
The research was carried out by the think-tank, the Institute for Public Policy Research North.
It says there are 72,000 fewer public-sector workers in the region than a decade ago - a fall of 24%.
That compares to 9% in London, which saw the lowest drop.
