Roadworks on the main road linking Penrith with the North Pennines will be temporarily lifted today so people can get to the Alston Moor Lamb Sale.
The A686 at Meathaw Hill was closed last Monday for three weeks while roadworks are carried out.
It means lengthy diversions for people travelling during the day between Alston and Penrith.
The lamb sale takes place in Lazonby today.
