'Good craic'... but with a serious message

North Down

Political newbie Melanie Kennedy, who is standing as an independent, has been telling the BBC about why she decided to stand.

Ms Kennedy has terminal cancer and said she had trouble accessing drugs that were available in other parts of the UK.

She says she has been overwhelmed by the response to her campaign and had there been a sixth seat, she may have stood a chance.

She said today had been "good craic" with all the other candidates and if only that could continue when they all got into Stormont.
