Third election for MP in three years

It's the third year in succession that voters in this south Wales seat have been asked to elect their MP.

Labour's Chris Elmore won Ogmore in a by-election in May 2016, succeeding his Labour colleague Huw Irranca-Davies who had stepped down to seek - and win - election to the Welsh Assembly.

Mr Elmore had a majority of more than 8,500 over UKIP, with Plaid Cymru pushing the Conservatives - runners-up in 2015 - into fourth place.

On a lower turnout, Labour's majority fell from that it achieved at the 2015 election, but the party's share of the vote was broadly similar at 52.6%.
