Glasgow count wraps up after SNP clean sweep

Stewart McDonald held the seat with an increased majority of 6,978.

Glasgow South West: Scottish National Party hold

Chris Stephens has been re-elected as the MP for Glasgow South West, with an increased majority.

The Scottish National Party candidate beat Labour's Matt Kerr by 4,900 votes, more than double the majority at the 2017 election.

Thomas Haddow of the Conservative Party came third and Liberal Democrat Ben Denton-Cardew came fourth.

Voter turnout was up by 0.9 percentage points since the last general election.

Nearly 37,000 people, 57.1% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

Two of the five candidates, Ben Denton-Cardew (Liberal Democrat) and Peter Brown (The Brexit Party), lost their £500 deposits after failing to win 5% of the vote.
