Dundee West: Scottish National Party hold

Chris Law has been re-elected as the MP for Dundee West, with an increased majority.

The Scottish National Party candidate beat Labour's Jim Malone by 12,259 votes, more than double the majority at the 2017 election.

Tess White of the Conservative Party came third and Liberal Democrat Daniel Coleman came fourth.

Voter turnout was up by 2.8 percentage points since the last general election.

Nearly 42,000 people, 64.5% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

Two of the six candidates, Stuart Waiton (The Brexit Party) and Quinta Arrey (Christian Peoples Alliance), lost their £500 deposits after failing to win 5% of the vote.
