Stephen Flynn has been elected as the MP for Aberdeen South, beating Conservative Douglas Lumsden by 3,990 votes.
The Scottish National Party overturned a 4,752 vote majority to take the formerly Conservative-held seat.
Ian Yuill of the Liberal Democrats came third and Labour's Shona Simpson came fourth.
Voter turnout was up by 1 percentage point since the last general election.
Nearly 46,000 people, 69.4% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.
All four candidates keep their deposits, after receiving more than 5% of the votes.
