West Ham: Labour hold

Lyn Brown has been re-elected as the MP for West Ham, with a decreased majority.

The Labour candidate beat Conservative Sara Kumar by 32,388 votes, 4,366 votes less than the majority at the 2017 election.

Eimear O'Casey of the Liberal Democrats came third and the Green Party's Danny Keeling came fourth.

Voter turnout was down by 4.2 percentage points since the last general election.

More than 60,000 people, 61.5% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

Four of the seven candidates, Danny Keeling (Green), Emma Stockdale (the Brexit Party), Paul Jobson (Christian Peoples Alliance) and Humera Kamran (Communities United) lost their £500 deposits after failing to win 5% of the vote.
