Episode 1: The discovery

A body is found on the moor. No-one knows who the man is. Inside the police investigation
Last December a man's body was discovered in the desolate landscape of Saddleworth Moor in the Peak District National Park.

There was no clue as to who the man was. Six months on, he still hasn't been identified and his body remains in a mortuary in Oldham.

The police have been mystified and shocked by what they have found

For months, those leading the investigation have been sharing their progress with Jon Manel.

Oldham East & Saddleworth: Labour hold

Debbie Abrahams has been re-elected as the MP for Oldham East & Saddleworth, with a significantly decreased majority.

The Labour candidate beat Conservative Tom Lord by 1,499 votes, less than half the majority at the 2017 election.

Paul Brierley of the Brexit Party came third and Liberal Democrat Sam Al-Hamdani came fourth.

Voter turnout was down by 1.2 percentage points since the last general election.

More than 46,000 people, 64% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

Three of the seven candidates, Paul Errock (Proud of Oldham & Saddleworth), Wendy Olsen (Green) and Amoy Lindo (independent) lost their £500 deposits after failing to win 5% of the vote.
