Lewisham Deptford: Labour hold

Vicky Foxcroft has been re-elected as the MP for Lewisham Deptford, with a decreased majority.

The Labour candidate beat Conservative Gavin Haran by 32,913 votes, 1,986 votes less than the majority at the 2017 election.

Bobby Dean of the Liberal Democrats came third and the Green Party's Andrea Carey Fuller came fourth.

Voter turnout was down by 1.6 percentage points since the last general election.

More than 55,000 people, 68.7% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

Three of the seven candidates, Moses Etienne (the Brexit Party), Tan Bui (independent) and John Lloyd (Alliance for Green Socialism) lost their £500 deposits after failing to win 5% of the vote.
