Tennis facilities in Hull's Pelican Park have been saved after falling into disrepair.

A regeneration project at the park has been driven by local residents who've successfully attracted nearly £250,000 worth of investment.

The funding means the site, in the east of Hull, can be transformed into a community tennis "hub".

Saving Lives at Sea: Whitby lifeboat crew star in TV series

The work of the Whitby lifeboat crew is being showcased on BBC TV tonight.


The largely volunteer group are featured in a new series, Saving Lives at Sea, highlighting the work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI),

The 12-part documentary series features real rescues carried out by the charity’s lifeboat crews and lifeguards around the UK and Ireland.

The first episode features the Whitby crew, with a father and daughter being pulled from the sea after being swept from rocks.

The series begins at 20:00 on BBC Two.

Hull East MP congratulates Corbyn

Labour's Karl Turner has been re-elected to the Hull East seat, with a majority of 10,396.

He was one of the MPs who resigned from the Labour cabinet last year, but this morning he was one of those to congratulate Jeremy Corbyn.

He said "Things are very different since our resignations a little bit over a year ago. The man has just probably ensured that Thersa May has lost the election. For goodness sake, let me congratulate the leader of the Labour party for securing that. I congratulate Jeremy for putting a good manifesto forward, it's been positive. It's about hope over fear."
