Ealing Central & Acton: Labour hold

Rupa Huq has been re-elected as the MP for Ealing Central & Acton, with a decreased majority.

The Labour candidate beat Conservative Julian Gallant by 13,300 votes, 507 votes less than the majority at the 2017 election.

Sonul Badiani of the Liberal Democrats came third and the Green Party's Kate Crossland came fourth.

Voter turnout was down by 2 percentage points since the last general election.

Nearly 55,000 people, roughly three-quarters of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

Two of the five candidates, Kate Crossland (Green) and Samir Alsoodani (Brexit Party) lost their £500 deposits after failing to win 5% of the vote.

Five Crossrail stations delayed

West Ealing
Crossrail

Five Crossrail stations which were due to be built by Network Rail by the end of 2017/early 2018 have been delayed until 2019.

The stations are West Ealing, Southall, Ealing Broadway, Acton and Hayes & Harlington.

Local residents and councils are extremely disappointed at the delay. I'll have more on this during the BBC London news bulletin at 13:30 on BBC One.
