Premier League at 25: 1997-2002


The Premier League is 25 years old on 15 August 2017.

To mark the anniversary, BBC Sport has produced five pieces, each covering a five-year period in the competition's history.

This is the second piece, focusing on the span from the 1997-98 season to the end of the 2001-02 campaign, when Paulo Di Canio went from referee-shoving villain to the epitome of sportsmanship and Arsene Wenger's Arsenal revolution promoted a new wave of professionalism.
