Answers

  1. It's Israel, which is ranked 17th. Greece is one place below the UK at 29 and Barbados is ranked 47th. The index assessed 187 countries on three areas of human development - life expectancy, education and the standard of living based on average income.
  2. It's Bosnia. Adnan Mevic, born in Sarajevo in October 1999, was chosen by the UN to be the symbolic six billionth baby. For this latest landmark, the UN has not chosen one, but charities have picked their own Baby Seven Billion born on 31 October.
  3. It's the future. Experiments with Eurasian jays suggest the birds store food as "planning" for their future needs, according to findings published in the journal Biology Letters.
  4. They are titles of 007 books that have not yet been used for Bond films. On Thursday it was announced the 23rd Bond film will be called Skyfall. Meanwhile, a Klimt painting sold at auction for $40m (£25m). A posthumous Winehouse album will be released next month.
  5. It's Knowles, who said growing criticism of the church's handling of the protests on its steps had made his position untenable. Horta-Osorio stood down as chief executive of Lloyds Banking Group on health grounds. Papandreou refused to resign, despite losing support for his referendum plan.
  6. It's Elmo. The show has a new cast of local characters, led by a vivacious six-year-old girl named Rani who loves cricket and traditional Pakistani music. The show started filming last week and will air at the end of November.
  7. It's still Kardashian. Eminem's second marriage to Kim Mathers was 10 days longer. Cage and Lisa Marie Presley were wedded for more than three months, roughly the same as Zellweger and Kenny Chesney. But Britney Spears' marriage to Jason Alexander was much shorter than all of them - it lasted only 55 hours.
