North West Air Ambulance called out to 200 incidents

The North West Air Ambulance Service responded to nearly 200 incidents in Cumbria in the last year.

The service, which has helicopters in Greater Manchester and Preston, covers the south of the county - but has been as far north as Carlisle in the last 12 months.

James, who's a helicopter pilot, says the aircraft make a big difference to patients in need.

If it's an hour-and-a-half or two-hour drive, we can be there in 20 minutes and that can make a real big difference to that patient."

Teenagers arrested after man stabbed at tram stop

Two 17-year-old boys have been arrested after a man was stabbed at Abraham Moss Metrolink stop in Manchester.

The 34-year-old victim was taken to hospital after the attack, which happened after a disturbance on a tram shortly before 14:00, police said.

His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

The two boys are being held on suspicion of assault.

Metrolink said services travelling towards the city centre would not stop at Abraham Moss, but trams travelling in the opposite direction would be calling at the station as usual.

Man hit by bus in Manchester city centre

A man in his 50s is being taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a bus in Manchester city centre.

Piccadilly Gardens

It happened at Piccadilly Gardens at about 14:20 and emergency services remain at the scene.

Parker Street, where Piccadilly Bus Station is, is closed and buses are being diverted, Transport for Greater Manchester said.

Stagecoach said its services were being diverted via Chorlton Street, Bloom Street and Sackville Street until further notice.
