One of the first schemes in the country to see patients who have fallen in their own home has led to a decline in the number being admitted to hospital.

The project - piloted by Virgin Care and the ambulance service in Bath and North East Somerset - sees a specialist team travel by car to people to assess what immediate and long-term care they need.

Prior to the service starting three years ago, 80% of patients they were called to would end up going to hospital, whereas now it's just 22%.

Mendip District Council has called on Glastonbury Festival to do more contingency planning for extreme weather in future.

Organisers had to bring in more drinking water at last year's event after unexpected hot temperatures led to long queues for water on the site in Pilton.

In the council's annual review of the festival, it says last year was, in general, successful and well-planned - with the number of reported crimes down on previous years.

Landslide on West Somerset trail

A major landslide is blocking part of the Washford Steam Coast Trail in West Somerset, according to the Steam Coast Trail group.

In a Facebook post it's warning that the bank has collapsed at the Old Cleeve end.

People using the trail are being urged to approach the area with caution.

We will endeavour to do our best to get it cleared before the holiday. If anybody has any suggestions for help, please let us know. Because of some drainage issues on this bank, we had planned (and budgeted) to remodel this bank anyway. As a reactive measure it will now have to happen sooner than we anticipated!
