Southampton Airport's biggest airline sold

Flybe, the airline which accounts for nine in 10 flights at Southampton Airport, has been sold.

Virgin Atlantic and Dublin-based Stobart Air will take over the struggling regional airline.

Flybe carries around eight million passengers a year from airports such as Southampton, Cardiff and Aberdeen, to the UK and Europe.

The airline, which also has valuable landing slots at Heathrow and links to its services from Manchester, was put up for sale two months ago.
