    Police forces in the region have added their tributes to the Duke of Edinburgh after his death was announced shortly after 12:00.

    Derbyshire Police Chief Constable Rachel Swann said: "Together with each police force in England and Wales, Derbyshire Constabulary offer our condolences to the Royal Family and join the nation in mourning this sad news."

    Leicestershire's Chief Constable Simon Cole said: "We have had the privilege of supporting visits that he has made to the force area on a number of occasions.

    "The legacy for young people created by the Duke of Edinburgh's Award will live on in his memory."

    And Nottinghamshire Police said: "As a force we are deeply saddened by the death of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and her family."

  4. Murder arrests after man dies following stabbing

    Two people from Sheffield have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 31-year-old man died following a stabbing in Derbyshire, police say.

    Ricky Collins died in hospital after being found in Killamarsh at 22:00 BST on 29 March, according to Derbyshire Constabulary.

    A 24-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from Sheffield, were detained on Monday and remain in custody, police said.

    A 16-year-old boy from Sheffield held on suspicion of murder, has been bailed pending further inquiries, officers added.

    Mr Collins, from Sheffield, was found injured after officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a house in Westthorpe Road.

    He'd sustained stab wounds and died later in hospital, the force said.

    Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
