Gliding club abandons airspace plan challenge

Gliding club in Lasham

A gliding club has said it will not challenge a court ruling on airspace around Farnborough, despite its fears of future mid-air collisions.

Earlier this month, the High Court upheld a plan to grant previously uncontrolled airspace to Farnborough Airport and define flight paths.

Lasham Gliding Society said the scheme would divert planes into its area.

In a statement, it said it would work to "minimise the impact" of the change, which is due to take effect in February 2020.
