There was silence in the jury box and the public gallery as the courtroom listened to the list of names.

Mr Duckenfield, who was match commander at the FA Cup semi final in 1989, denies gross negligence manslaughter of 95 men, women and children.

The 96th victim, Tony Bland, is not included because he died four years later - outside the time limit for this offence.

The 75-year-old sat in the well of the court wearing a suit and blue tie. His wife, Ann, was in the public gallery, as were about eight relatives of victims.

Fourteen people, 12 to make up the jury and two additional jurors who will sit through the opening, were selected from a panel of 30 at Preston Crown Court.

The prosecution will open its case on Thursday.

Under the law at the time, there can be no prosecution for the death of the 96th victim, Tony Bland, because he died more than a year and a day after his injuries were caused.

The prosecution is expected to open its case against him later this week.

The trial is expected to last up to seven weeks.

The North West Air Ambulance Service responded to nearly 200 incidents in Cumbria in the last year.

The service, which has helicopters in Greater Manchester and Preston, covers the south of the county - but has been as far north as Carlisle in the last 12 months.

James, who's a helicopter pilot, says the aircraft make a big difference to patients in need.

If it's an hour-and-a-half or two-hour drive, we can be there in 20 minutes and that can make a real big difference to that patient."
