Warning of further downpours from noon....

A yellow warning for rain has been put in place by the Met Office for parts of Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Derbyshire from 12:00 to 20:00.

This could impact areas that were flooded yesterday, the Met Office said.

Five flood warnings remain in place

The Environment Agency now has five flood warnings in place across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

These are for:

  • Poynton Brook at Poynton and Midway
  • Poynton Brook at Wigwam wood and parts of Armcon Business Park
  • River Bollin and Agden Brook at Little Bollington
  • River Bollin at Heatley
  • Timperley Brook at Altrincham

Stranded boy, 13, rescued from nature reserve

A 13-year-old boy was dramatically rescued from Happy Valley Nature Reserve in Hazel Grove near Stockport after being stranded by flowing water at about 17:00 BST on Wednesday.

We're told by GMFRS that one of its firefighters "involuntarily entered" the fast-flowing water and had to be rescued by his colleagues.

The rescue involved "acts of bravery" and was "difficult", a spokesperson said.

North West Ambulance Service confirmed two patients had been taken to hospital.

GMFRS reveals details of hugely busy evening in Stockport area

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have had a hugely busy afternoon and evening.

A spokesman said its officers were first at the scene of the floods in the Stockport area from 16:00 BST.

Four men were rescued from flooded firm of funeral directors

Two women and four dogs were rescued from a house

Four men and a woman were helped from a corner shop

Other residents, who chose to stay in their homes, were assisted by firefighters

Rail disruption continues

Flooding has disrupted all lines between Manchester Airport and Wilmslow, train operator Northern has said.

Disruption is expected until at 08:00.
