Scottish laundry group Fishers has confirmed the closure of its Perth site, with the loss of up to 84 jobs.

Fishers said it had been "significantly impacted" by the severe downturn in the hospitality and tourism sector following the coronavirus lockdown.

Hotels in Scotland and the north east of England account for much of its business.

Fishers plans to consolidate its Scottish hospitality business into its Cupar and Glasgow laundries.

A Perth secondary school has marked "Star Wars Day" with a special assembly from the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.

Bertha Park High School produced the video for pupils currently at home due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Head teacher Stuart Clyde said he made the video with "bits and bobs I had lying about the house."

May the 4th (Be With You) is a play on the 1977 film's famous "May the Force Be With You" line.

Perthshire libraries 3D printing protective equipment

Libraries in Perth and Kinross have been using 3D printers to make PPE for NHS workers.

Staff have been working in conjunction with other partners such as Men’s Sheds to print headframes and stiffeners for protective masks.

The final products will be given to NHS Tayside.

Helen Smout, of Culture Perth and Kinross, said: “As a small organisation and charitable trust, we are looking to support the Covid-19 response in any way we can, and making use of the cutting-edge technology we have in our libraries to 3D print essential PPE is an excellent example of that."

Rewind Festivals cancelled because of coronavirus

The Rewind Festivals, which are held in Henley-on-Thames, Cheshire, and Perth, have been postponed until next year because of the coronavirus pandemic."The health and safety of all Rewinders, the artists, staff and community will always be our top priority, and it became clear that rescheduling the festivals was unavoidable," organisers said.

The rescheduled dates are for July and August 2021, and this year's tickets will remain valid.The artist's confirmed for the 2020 event included Jimmy Somerville, Wet Wet Wet, Billy Ocean, Soul II Soul and Bananarama.
