  2. TV and radio coverage of Queen of the South versus Raith Rovers

    If you can't make it to Palmerston Park this evening, the BBC has got full coverage of the Queen of the South v Raith Rovers match coming up.

  3. Mix of cup and league action in south of Scotland

    There's a mixture of league and cup matches in the South League tomorrow.

    In the two league games, St Cuthbert Wanderers who trail leaders Edusport Academy by 10 - points but who have six games in hand, have the chance to close the gap at the top of the table when they travel to Creetown. And Newton Stewart host Abbey Vale.

    There are four Tweedie Cup first round ties - where Dumfries YMCA, Lochar Thistle, Mid Annandale and Nithsdale Wanderers all have home advantage. At the McLeod Pavillion, YMCA host Upper Annandale.

    Wigtown and Bladnoch make the trip to Lockerbie to play Mids and it's Nithsdale against Crichton at Lorimer Park.

  4. War memorial created in Dumfriesshire

    A farming couple from Dumfriesshire are poised to create a lasting memorial to those who served in the First World War.

    Michael and Shirley Clarke will plant a thousand trees to create a centenary wood on their land near Annan.

    Members of the community including scouts have been enlisted to lend a hand at Williamwood farm this weekend.

  5. Annan determined to make East Stirling work hard

    After booking a place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup in midweek, Annan Atheltic return to League Two business tomorrow when they face East Stirling at Galabank.

    The Black-and Golds go into the game with a two-point lead at the top of the table. Boss, Jim Chapman, expects the visitors to provide a stern test.

    "It will be a real tough game against East Stirling, they're a good side" he said.

    "But they're coming to Galabank and I don't know what's happening here but we seem to just work away and fight.

    "Nobody's going to leave here with points in the bag unless they've earned it because we're not going to give things away cheap."

  6. Showers dying away with brisk westerly winds

    Any showers will die away this evening with the brisk westerly winds ease.

    Long clear spells will develop allowing allowing a widespread frost to develop, as temperatures dip to freezing.

  8. Dumfries and Galloway rugby sides prepare for action

    Weather permitting there's a full card of fixtures for Dumfries and Galloway rugby sides this weekend.

    Dumfries Saints welcome East Kilbride to Park Farm in National League division three.

    While in the regional leagues, Stewartry, Annan and Moffat all have home games in their respective leagues. Langholm, Newton Stewart and Wigtownshire are all away.

  9. Borders Railway prospectus officially launched

    The Borders Railway Prospectus, which highlights the opportunities along the railway corridor for investors and businesses, was officially launched in Edinburgh last night.

    Keith Brown, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure, Investment and Cities, unveiled the website and a promotional film to Scottish businesses, politicians, developers, agents, and legal, banking and advisory representatives.

  10. Gala Fairydean Rovers on the road to Dalbeattie Star

    The Lowland League card this weekend sees Gala Fairydean Rovers travel to Dalbeattie Star and Selkirk journey to Spartans.

    Vale of Leithen, meanwhile, entertain Threave Rovers.

    Gretna are at home to Edinburgh City.

  11. Stranraer seek improvement in Stair Park form

    Stranraer aim to close the gap on Airdrieonians in League One when the two meet at Stair Park this weekend.

    The Blues home form hasn't been great so far this season, but Brian Reid's side have the chance to cut Airdrie's advantage to three points if they can pick up a win.
