  4. Man admits £1m fraud against medical firm

    An east Belfast man has pleaded guilty to carrying out a £1m fraud against a major medical equipment supplies company where his wife was employed.

    Samuel Noel Savage, 60, of Kincora Mews, admitted carrying out the fraud against Arjo Huntleigh. However, he denied acquiring criminal property and eight charges of dishonestly retaining wrongful credit in his bank account.

  5. Football: O'Neill hands trio Republic of Ireland chance

    Martin O'Neill has given three players the chance to impress by calling them up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the first time.

    Matt Doherty (pictured), Jonny Hayes and Chris Forrester have been included in the 40-man provisional panel, as well as uncapped midfielder Alan Judge, for the Euro 2016 warm-up friendlies against Switzerland and Slovakia. 

  6. Police expect dissident republican threat to rise in coming weeks

    More on the news that police say they have prevented several murder attempts by dissident republicans in the last week - Assistant Chief Constable Will Kerr says the PSNI are thwarting three or four planned or attempted attacks by dissident republicans for every one that takes place.

    "We have seen an upsurge in dissident republican activity over the last number of weeks and we anticipate that upsurge might continue," he says.

  7. Cricket: Rain pain as Ireland crash out of World Twenty20

    Rain has broken Irish hearts in the World Twenty20 tournament - their game against Bangladesh has been called off because of the weather, meaning Ireland are out.

    Bangladesh were 94-2 off eight overs when play was halted. With play unable to continue, Ireland were awarded one point but are unable to progress to the next round. 

  8. Several murder bids by dissidents thwarted say police

    The PSNI says that several murder attempts by dissident republicans have been prevented since a bomb attack on a prison officer last week.

    Assistant Chief Constable Will Kerr warned that police expect dissidents to try to carry out more attacks in the next few weeks.
