  7. Fracking protesters to put up candidate for council elections

    Protesters against plans to frack shale in North Yorkshire say they're putting up candidates in this year's council elections.

    It's not clear how many or where. It comes as a new campaign group was officially launched in Ryedale earlier. 

    In May last year the first fracking operation in England since a ban was lifted in 2012 was approved in North Yorkshire.

    Councillors considered a bid by Third Energy to extract shale gas at a site near Kirby Misperton in Ryedale.

  8. Some bus timetables to change in West Yorkshire

    Buses in some parts of West Yorkshire are changing the timetables from the weekend.


    You can check out your bus on the Metro website.

    The changes come start this Sunday, so make sure you don't get caught out.

  10. Man charged after having an imitation gun

    A man's been charged with possessing an imitation firearm after an incident in Rotherham on Wednesday.

    Matthew James Hirst, 24, from Schofield Street, Mexborough, was also charged with intent to cause fear of violence.

    It comes after an incident in Avenue Road in Wath-upon-Dearne where a man was reportedly seen with a firearm.

  11. Murder inquiry officers quiz man, 34

    Police are still questioning a 34-year-old man on suspicion of murder following the death of a man at a house in Harehills in the early hours of yesterday morning.

    Three other men, aged 46, 50 and 51, and a 40-year-old woman have now all been released without charge.

    West Yorkshire Police said they were called to a property, next to St James's Hospital, by the ambulance service at about 01:30 GMT on Sunday.

    Officers found a man with serious injuries. Police said he died a short time later.

  12. BreakingBradford teenager sentenced for making 'viable' home-made bomb

    A neo-Nazi teenager who made a small but viable home-made bomb in his bedroom in Bradford, has been sentenced to a three-year youth rehabilitation order at Leeds Crown Court.

    He was also handed down directions to receive intensive one-to-one counselling from a "deradicalisation expert".   

    The 17-year-old, whose bedroom was plastered with Third Reich paraphernalia, was arrested after sharing images of the "viable" explosive on Snapchat.  

    Jurors heard the boy described Mrs Cox's killer Thomas Mair as "a hero" in an online post. 

    He was cleared of a charge of preparing acts of terrorism.
