But before we go, let's look back at five things we've learnt about North Yorkshire throughout the day:

  1. The number of attacks on Ambulance Service workers in Yorkshire has shot up
  2. Police in York have issued a CCTV image of two women and a child in the hope that someone can identify them after a member of the public expressed concerns for the youngster
  3. Members of Church Fenton parish council say they still know very little about plans that could see 10,000 new homes built nearby
  4. One of the most well-known comedians has offered his support to a campaign to save the iconic Futurist Theatre in Scarborough from demolition
  5. There are plenty of public bonfires and fireworks displays that you could go to at the weekend across North Yorkshire

Watch: Hedgehog numbers declining at rapid rate

Joanita Musisi

Reporter, BBC Radio York

On BBC Radio York today, I've been finding out about the fate of hedgehogs.

The once common hedgehog is now under threat from development and habitat loss caused by the reduction of hedgerows and and increase in intensive farming methods.

In just the last 10 years, hedgehog numbers have fallen by 30%, and there are now thought to be fewer than a million left in the UK - and at this time of year they are particularly under threat.

I've been to Wildlife Haven in Thirsk to meet one and find out what we can do to help:

One of York's most iconic hotels has changed its name.

The Royal York, which has also been known locally as the Station Hotel, is now called The Principal York.

Principal Hayley, which owns the hotel, says the rebranding follows restoration of the building which is next to York's railway station.

Listen: 'Surely they're not going to knock it down?' - Bobby Cannon on Futurist's fate

Nathan Turvey

Presenter, BBC Radio York

More now on the future of the Futurist Theatre in Scarborough.

Comedian Tommy Cannon - of Cannon and Ball fame - has offered his support to campaigners calling for the borough council to reverse its decision to demolish it. It's been derelict for almost three years.

Earlier, we told you about the passionate public meeting in the town last night, which had over 200 people there as they agreed they must continue their fight to save it.

Cannon used to perform on stage there in front of full houses, night after night.

He's told me times have changed but it's the "people's theatre" and it can't be knocked down:

Attacks on Yorkshire Ambulance workers up by 50%

Ambulance
PA

The number of incidents in Yorkshire where paramedics have been abused or attacked has gone up by 50% in the last three years.

In the last five years I've been subject to three attacks. I've been bitten, I've been headbutted and somebody's come at me with a knife. All three of those were drunk. But I love my job. It's the best job in the world for me, I'll be out again on Friday night to help."

"Richard"Paramedic in West Yorkshire

Figures from the Yorkshire Ambulance Trust show that there were 606 incidents recorded in the last financial year where a member of their frontline staff were abused.

That means that on average there were 12 incidents every week where paramedics were abused.

Be careful with those sparklers!

Listen: Parish councillor's 'shock' at size of Church Fenton housing plan

Nathan Turvey

Presenter, BBC Radio York

On BBC Radio York's Breakfast Programme this morning, I got an update on a story that's really got some of you going this week.

It's the idea that as many as 10,000 new homes could be built on the site of the old RAF airbase at Church Fenton.

Last night, a small number of people were expected to see the plans for the new "garden village" which could be the size of Wetherby.

Jo Mason is a Church Fenton parish councillor and was one of the people at this closed meeting. She's told me what happened:

The meeting seemed to be a series of questions that we didn't get answers for."

Vale of York health bosses aim to cut prescription costs

Elly Fiorentini

BBC Radio York News

Health bosses are due to meet later today in Easingwold to discuss how they can reduce the number of prescriptions which are handed out to patients.

NHS
BBC

The Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) wants to change the way drugs are prescribed in an attempt to save £150,000 each year.

The CCG is already in special measures, has a predicted overspend of over £13m for this year alone, and a new Chief Officer has recently been put in place.

The governing body will also be asked to approve plans to stop prescribing named products, as switching to prescribing generic brands is said to be cheaper and would also give pharmacists more drugs to choose from.

'It's our theatre' - Frustration over future of the Futurist

Sarah Urwin

Reporter, BBC Radio York

It's played host to some of the biggest names: the Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Shirley Bassey, Morecambe and Wise and Ken Dodd have all performed at the famous Futurist Theatre in Scarborough.

The future of this venue is something that's been discussed so many times over the last few years. It shut almost three years ago, after a report said it was beyond refurbishment but campaigners are still trying to save it from being knocked down.

Last night a big public meeting was held in the town having been arranged because it was thought councillors would be discussing demolition plans at a meeting on Monday.

That's now been delayed until January, but it certainly didn't put people off coming to have their say or coming up with ideas to save it - and I went along to hear people's views:

Traffic and Travel: No reported problems on roads or rails

A good start to the day is on its way because it doesn't look as though you'll encounter any major problems if you are about to get in your car or on the train.

Just a little reminder that there's still a short diversion in place on the A61 between the A168 and Stoneybrough Lane (pictured) close to South Kilvington.

This will continue to be the case until 13 November because of roadworks.

There are also temporary traffic lights on the A59 at Moor Monkton while engineers do electricity work. That's expected to be the case all the way through until the middle of March!
