More than 19,000 poppies knitted for Remembrance Day
An army veteran has created a display with more than 19,000 poppies to mark Remembrance Day.
Knitters from across the world have donated their stitched poppies to help Andy Denholm achieve his goal and remember those who served in World War One.
The installation will
cover the entire front section of the Church Hall in West Cornforth, County
Durham.

Andy said: “To reach 19,240 poppies is just amazing because it represents the number of British soldiers killed on 1 July 1916 during the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
"We set ourselves a project to instil some community spirit and it has spread across County Durham and even as far afield as ex-pats in Australia and Canada, people just want to be part of it."
Man robbed by armed men
A 53-year-old man was robbed by two men armed with knives in Newcastle.
The suspects threatened the man and stole his cash, necklace and watch outside the Halifax in Gosforth High Street on 4 August.
The victim was shaken by the incident but unharmed.
The offenders are believed to be in their early 20s or late teens.
One of them was 5ft 10in and wore a black hoodie with goggles attached to the hood, gloves and spoke with a local accent.
The second male was white European and wore a Burberry scarf over his face.

Listen: 'Sheffield United fans to blame' after fan trouble
A senior Cleveland Police officer says that Sheffield United fans were to blame for violence that broke out after Saturday's game against Middlesbrough at the Riverside, which injured children as young as 10.
Assistant Chief Constable of Cleveland Police, Jason Harwin, was on duty at the Riverside and says the violence involving over 200 people was some of the worst he's seen in his 25-year career.

Six people have so far been arrested and one officer was taken to hospital.
Richard Ball, 47, from Sheffield will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on 8 September, after being charged with a public order offence.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug and was released with no further police action.
Two men, aged 20 and 58, were cautioned for pitch invasion and two men, aged 35 and 52, were arrested on suspicion of affray and were released under investigation.

A 42-year-old man has been hit by a blue Ford Transit van in Hartlepool.

Fatal crash in Gateshead
An 18-year-old man has died in a collision in Gateshead.
The crash happened on Birkland Lane, Kibblesworth, yesterday.
Two 17-year-old boys, a 45-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were left seriously injured.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
