It's the second time the event has been held and this year a key part of the events has been Take it to the Bridge - with live music performed on 40 bridges around the UK.

Bridges in the North East which have been the location for performances have been the Union Chain Bridge, in Northumberland, Gateshead's Millennium Bridge, the New Wear Crossing in Sunderland and Prebends Bridge in Durham.

The major focus has been Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge's gondola where musicians have been counting down the decades from the 1910s to the present day since this morning.

And the performances will carry on into the evening. We'll bring you updates here and you can listen on BBC Tees.
