    A girl from Brighton who was born with one leg shorter than the other, has raised thousands of pounds to cover the costs of an operation in Israel to save her leg from amputation.

  3. Consultation on proposed improvements to stroke services in Kent and Medway

    A public consultation has been launched on the future of urgent stroke services in Kent and Medway.

    It was announced last month that stroke centres could close and be replaced by three new 24/7 "hyper-acute" units.

    Kent's eight clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) issued plans to replace three of the six existing units with specialist units.

    The NHS is asking for people's views on the proposals.

    The consultation runs for 10 weeks until midnight on Friday 13 April.

    Wightlink has released the latest picture of its new ferry - Victoria of Wight - currently being built in Turkey.

    The new hybrid diesel and electric-powered vessel is due to enter service on the Portsmouth to Fishborne route later this year.

  10. Man arrested over attempted child abduction

    A man has been arrested over an attempted child abduction.

    An 11-year-old girl was walking her dog in Sandhill Avenue, Crawley Down at about 16:50 GMT on Tuesday, Sussex Police said.

    A dark coloured vehicle stopped alongside her and she was asked to get in, a police spokesman said.

    A 35-year-old man from Crawly has been arrested on suspicion of attempted child abduction and remains in police custody.

    A man's been found dead lying on a street in Margate.

    Police say they were called to Victoria Road at 22:00 GMT last night, where they found the man lying on the pavement.

    He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    His death is being treated as unexplained.
