  2. Bug from Europe threatens Kent's pear crop

    A tiny insect which has devastated pear crops in Europe has been found in Kent for the first time.

    The Anthonomus Spilotus bug was identified by scientists at East Malling Research using a French text book published in the 1930s.

    Farmers say up to a quarter of their pear crop is being destroyed by the insect.

  5. Woman killed in Eastbourne crash

    A woman has died following a collision outside the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne.

    The 75-year-old from Seaford, had been driving a silver Saab which collided with four parked cars on the B2103 King Edward Parade at around 10:00 BST.

    The woman was taken by air ambulance to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where she died from her injuries.

    No one else was involved in the collision.

  10. Teenagers charged for 'cuckooing'

    Two teenagers have been charged by police following the alleged "cuckooing" of a property in Gravesend.

    Kent Police raided a property in Poplar Avenue where crack cocaine, heroin and drug equipment was seized.

    Cuckooing is when the home of a vulnerable person is taken over as a base for drug dealers who commonly use intimidation, bullying and violence to maintain control.

    An 18-year-old and a 19-year-old have been charged.

  11. Amputee teen racer completes charity walk

    Billy Monger, who lost both legs in a crash, has walked the pit lane at Brands Hatch to raise money for the air ambulance that helped him.

  13. War War Two grenades detonated

    Kent Fire and Rescue Service have carried out a controlled explosion following the discovery of around 120 World War Two phosphorous grenades.

    They were found in a back garden of a property on Woodside Road in Sevenoaks. The devices were detonated in a special trench dug in a field opposite the property.

    Crews have been working alongside the Ministry of Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal team and the scene is now safe.
