  2. Man treated for burns after flat fire

    An investigation has been launched after a man suffered burns in a flat fire.

    Firefighters were called to the ground-floor flat at Devonshire Court in The Drive, Hove, just before 19:00 BST today.

    They dealt with a fire in the kitchen and the man was given treatment at the scene.

    Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour.

  5. Have you seen David Reid?

    David Reid

    Police are concerned for the welfare of 47-year-old David Reid from Eastbourne.

    David, who suffers from mental health problems, was spoken to by police in London on Saturday 1 April but has not been seen after he walked out of Charing Cross police station.

    He is described as white, 5ft 10in tall, of heavy build, with black spiked shoulder length hair and a goatee beard. He was last seen wearing a long green trench coat, blue jeans and flip flops.

    Anyone who sees David or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 quoting serial 404 of 02/04. If he is in danger or in need of urgent medical attention, dial 999.

  6. Sussex head coach: 'We want promotion to division one'

    Sussex have been boosted by the early arrival of South African all-rounder David Wiese who's available for the first Championship game against Kent starting on Good Friday.

    Meanwhile head coach Mark Davis has told the BBC the team are looking to do well in all three competitions this season.

  7. Two men charged with murder

    Police investigating the death of Sam Caulfield in Crawley last summer have charged two men with murder.

    Sam, 21, from Mayfield, suffered a single stab wound to the abdomen at a property in Spencers Road, Crawley, at around 03:00 BST on Saturday, June 18.

    He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, where he died.

    John Mitchell, 21, of Mowbray Drive, Crawley and Macauley Lawless, 21, of Ifield Road, Crawley, answered bail today were charged with murder.

    They were remanded in custody to appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

    Mitchell and Lawless were also charged with perverting the course of justice.

    Leah Delgado, 23, of Ifield Road, Crawley and Jessica Roberts, 25, of Spencers Road, Crawley, were also charged with perverting the course of justice. 

    Roberts appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court today where she was bailed to attend Lewes Crown Court on 3 May.

    Delgado was released on bail to appear before Crawley Magistrates' Court on 19 April.

  8. Police appeal for witnesses after Hove fatal crash

    At 12:43 BST yesterday, police were told that a Kia Echo saloon driven by a 70-year old man had been driven off the road in Hangleton Way, Hove, gone through a fence at Hove Park School and crashed into two parked and unattended cars in the car park.

    The man received treatment from paramedics but died at the scene an hour later.

    The coroner's officer has been informed.

    The car's passenger, a 13-year old boy, was shocked but unhurt. No one else was involved in the crash.

    Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact Sussex Police at collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Pablo.

  9. Settlement reached after Bednest cot death

    A settlement has been reached after a seven-week-old baby was found dead in a bedside cot. 

    Esther Roseman told an inquest last year that she discovered baby Grace lifeless in the Bednest crib at their home in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, on 9 April 2015.  

    Her daughter's head was "hanging over the side" of the second-hand cot and she was "angled slightly upwards".

    A coroner issued a   safety warning   about the cot last year and expressed concerns about a lack of instructions.
