This year's official starter is Seagulls manager Chris Hughton.

Settlement reached after Bednest cot death

A settlement has been reached after a seven-week-old baby was found dead in a bedside cot.
Esther Roseman told an inquest last year that she discovered baby Grace lifeless in the Bednest crib at their home in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, on 9 April 2015.
Her daughter's head was "hanging over the side" of the second-hand cot and she was "angled slightly upwards".
A coroner issued a
safety warning
about the cot last year and expressed concerns about a lack of instructions.

Funding for Shoreham air crash memorial

Councillors in Adur have agreed to give £25,000 towards a memorial to the 11 men killed in the Shoreham air crash.
The memorial will feature five pieces of art along the banks of the River Adur, and will cost a total of £150,000.
The tragedy happened when a Hawker Hunter jet crashed onto the A27 during the Shoreham Air Show in 2015.

Rampion excavator 'currently immobilised'

It's not looking good for this piece of machinery which is being used on the Rampion off-shore wind farm.
The company behind the scheme said: "We can
confirm that the elevated excavator working off Lancing Beach is currently
immobilised and the operating personnel are safely back onshore.
"For
safety reasons a guard vessel is on site and buoys have been placed around the
excavator.
"We are awaiting the next low tide to seek to move the
vehicle.”
Two police officers have been charged following an incident in Eastbourne in the early hours of Thursday January 5.
Police were called to South Street at 02:07 where paramedics reported that they were treating a 33-year-old man with a head injury.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to his head, face and hand.
Robert Rangeley, 35, a PC based in Eastbourne and Paul Bridger, 32, a PC based at Lewes, have both been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
They have been bailed to appear at Hastings Magistrates' Court on 26 April.

Brighton & Hove Albion moved two points clear of Newcastle at the top of the Championship with a routine home win against strugglers Birmingham City.
Glenn Murray's 20th goal of the season put Albion ahead on two minutes, turning in Bruno's cross on the run.
Birmingham frustrated the hosts for the rest of the half, but Tomer Hemed chested in a second early on after the break to ease the pressure.
Uwe Hunemeier's fierce shot made it three, before Che Adam's consolation.
