Police refused access to some Shoreham evidence

The High Court has refused to allow Sussex Police full access to evidence gathered by Air Accident investigators following the Shoreham Airshow disaster, which killed 11 people in August last year.

A widow from East Sussex has won a High Court battle, giving her a chance to have her late husband's child.

Man arrested over historical sex offences in Warnham

Police are investigating claims an 11-year-old choir boy was assaulted in a church in West Sussex on several occasions in the 1980s. 

A 55-year-old man has been arrested over the allegations which relate to St Margarets Church in Warnham. 

Officers say further offences may have been committed against other boys during the same period.

The 16-year-old has not been seen since about 23:00 BST on Monday.

Police release CCTV after charity box stolen

Police want to speak to this man after a charity box was stolen from a shop in Brighton. 

It happened at Sainsbury's in North Street at 19:45 BST last Wednesday. 

It's thought a security chain was cut with a pair of pliers while a shop assistant was distracted.

Police dog sniffs out suspects

A Sussex police dog called Spud is being praised after finding two suspected criminals hiding in a plastic container at a garden centre in Mark Cross.

The six-year-old German Shepherd led his handler PC Steph Barrett from the scene of a car crash at Sussex Country Gardener in Tunbridge Wells Road, through the grounds and into the kitchen where he started barking to indicate he'd located someone.

PC Barrett lifted the lid of the unit, which is usually used to store cushions, and found two men lying top to tail inside.

Two men have been arrested and bailed.

Sussex to host South Africa in 2017

Sussex will host tourists South Africa in a day-night match in 2017, the England and Wales Cricket Board have announced.

The Proteas will visit the County Ground in Hove for a 50-over match on Friday 19 May.

It will be the first match South Africa play on their tour of England, which will include four Test matches.

South Africa last played at Hove in 2003, when the visitors won a 50-over match by 153 runs.

Widow wins High Court frozen embryo case

The widow of a Falklands war veteran has won a High Court bid to keep frozen embryos that they created.

Samantha Jefferies, 42, from East Sussex, said they were her "last chance" of having his child.

Clive Jefferies died suddenly in 2014 and Mrs Jefferies was told the embryos could not be stored for longer than two years - despite consenting to 10. Judge Sir James Munby said it was "obviously right" they be stored for 10 years. Read the full story here.

Konta into the last 16 at Wuhan Open

Southern: Additional services announced for strike days

Southern has announced additional services it'll be offering on the 14 forthcoming strike days, starting on Tuesday 11 October. 

They include:

  • Later services to Redhill
  • Later services on the London Bridge to East Grinstead route
  • Later services on the Brighton to Eastbourne route
  • Buses between Hastings, St Leonards Warrior Square and Bexhill
  • Buses between Dorking and Horsham
  • Buses all day between Ashford International and Hastings
  • Buses at peak times connecting Uckfield, Buxted, Crowborough and Eridge with Haywards Heath and Tunbridge Wells (for rail connections to/from London)
