  1. Couple winched to safety from Walberswick marshes

A couple, aged in their 70s, were winched to safety from marshes at Walberswick last night.

Firefighters, police officers and the coastguard were called to the area at about 18:40 after reports of two people being stuck.

Simon Cusworth, a coastguard rescue officer from the Aldeburgh Coastguard Team, said the couple had been for a walk from Walberswick and had got lost.

He said it was "blowing a gale" and the coastal rescue helicopter from Kent assisted with the rescue.

Mr Cusworth said the couple were "physically fine" but a "little embarrassed".
