  14. Car thieves caught by dropped mobile phone are jailed

Four car thieves, who were caught when one of them dropped his mobile phone, have been jailed at Stafford Crown Court.

Police say the men, who are all from Tamworth, then argued about the dropped phone on Facebook.

    Adam Gould and Jimmy Cutler

Adam Gould (above left), who is 21, and 25-year-old Jimmy Cutler (above right), who now lives in Grimsby, had both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary - they were jailed for four years and three years and four months respectively.

Philip Thompson (below left), who is 38, pleaded guilty to burglary of commercial premises and handling stolen goods and received two years and four months.

Heath Moran (below right), who is 22, was also jailed for two years and four months after pleading guilty to handling stolen goods, dangerous driving and theft of petrol. He also got a driving ban.

    Philip Thompson and Heath Moran

Staffordshire Police says they broke into homes and businesses in Staffordshire and Warwickshire to steal the keys for high-performance cars.

A fifth man, 22-year-old Zak Clark from Tamworth, also pleaded guilty, but failed to appear in court yesterday and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Quote Message: These men broke into houses while the occupants slept, specifically to target high-powered cars so they could race them and strip them for parts. They were an organised, close-knit group which preyed on properties across the south of Staffordshire and into neighbouring Warwickshire." from Inspector Pete Cooke Staffordshire Police
