  13. Port Vale defender unhappy over wage speculation

    Lee Blakeman

Port Vale commentator, BBC Radio Stoke

Port Vale defender Ben Purkiss says comments about the wage budget being cut next season have been "unhelpful".

Chairman Norman Smurthwaite says some players could see their pay cut by 40 per cent in the summer. Purkiss told BBC Radio Stoke that should have been kept out of the media.

    Ben Purkiss
Quote Message: It's difficult when you read in the press that you're going to take a 40 per cent pay cut. That's a lot. Everyone lives to their means, it's not like there's players on 100 thousand pounds a week that might have to take 60, I think most people could handle that. from Ben Purkiss Port Vale defender
