  7. Five injured after bus and cars crash

    Five people were hurt when abus and two cars crashed in Penkridgethis morning, paramedics say.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service say the collision was on Cannock Road. 

    They say one of the car drivers, a man in his 50s, suffered a head injury, while the other car driver and the bus driver both had chest and leg pains.

  10. Lindow Moss: Company denies blame for sinking Cheshire bog

    A peat extraction firm has denied it is to blame for land around the Cheshire resting place of Lindow Man sinking.

    The Iron Age body was found in Lindow Moss, near Wilmslow, in 1984, having been preserved in peat for 2,000 years.

    Residents want an investigation into what caused land surrounding the bog to fall by 1.6ft (0.5m) in five years.

    Peat extraction firm, Croghan Peat Ltd, says a lack of rainfall is the reason for the subsidence.

  14. Woman has necklace stolen while being asked for directions

    A woman has had  a gold necklace stolen from her while she was being asked directionsin Newcastle-under-Lyme, police say.

    Staffordshire Police say the victim was on Etruria Road on Sunday when a car pulled up and she was asked for directions to the hospital. 

    The people in the car then claimed it was a tradition to place a necklace on her head and told her to pray.

    The woman later realised her own necklace, with a wedding ring on it, had been taken while she was distracted.
