    An historic Stoke-on-Trent building's been given a new lease of life - as a centre for peace and relaxation.

    The Crewe-based Chiron Institute has set up inside the old Minton Library on London Road, Stoke. 

    They say their team work with sound and meditation and will be holding a series of events over the next week inside the landmark building to introduce people to the practice. 

  6. Train delay refunds: Which? files super-complaint

    Train companies are making it too difficult for delayed rail passengers to receive compensation, consumer group Which? has argued.

    It is making a so-called super-complaint to the railway regulator, the Office of Rail and Road (ORR).  

    The ORR said it was already working to improve the situation - in October, Virgin Trains became the first operator to offer automatic refunds to delayed passengers.

  7. Millions made from hospital car parking charges

    The NHS Trust which runs the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals made more than £3m in car parking charges in the last year, according to a Freedom of information request by the Press Association.

    Out of 90 trusts that responded, the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is ranked fifth across the country in terms of the most cash raised from car parks.

    UHNM said charges pay for maintaining the service and any surplus money is reinvested into direct patient care.

    The main headlines this evening include

    - The NHS Trust which runs the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals made more than £3m in car parking charges in the last year, according to figures from the Press Association

    - More questions should have been asked of a mother-of-six, whose baby died after being left downstairs while she slept with a man she had recently met  

    - A company called Beer Monster's been given a licence to deliver alcohol from a terraced house in Burslem every day, despite fears it will disrupt residents

  10. Beer Monster firm gets approval for terrace house 'alcohol warehouse'

    A company called Beer Monster's been given a licence to deliver alcohol from a terraced house in Burslem until 05.30 every day, despite fears it will disrupt residents

    Wade Street, Burslem

    The firm wants to turn a private house on Wade Street in to a sort of alcohol warehouse - delivering pre-ordered drinks to homes across the Potteries until the early hours of the morning, seven days a week.

    The licence was granted, but with dozens of conditions including CCTV and trackers in delivery vehicles - and an agreement not to sell alcohol to anyone who's drunk or rowdy.

  12. Autumn leaves cause thousands of pounds of train damage

    I'm at London Midland's maintenance depot in Tyseley looking at how falling leaves damage train wheels, leading to repairs costing thousands of pounds.

    Apparently the leaves cause the wheels to lock and slide, in turn creating friction.

    A Stafford-based charity says it's expecting to help more than 200 people over Christmas.

    House of Bread provides meals for people who find themselves homeless or struggling to pay for food. 

    They say they're holding a series of events organised to ensure local people have access to a hot meal.

  16. Travel: Five vehicle crash on A500 in Stoke-on-Trent

    Two lanes are closed on the A500 D Road northbound in Stoke-on-Trent near the Sideaway Roundabout, because of a five vehicle accident.

    Congestion is back to the M6 junction.
