  7. Bronze plaque theft: 100 stolen from Barnsley crematorium

    One hundred bronze plaques have been stolen from Barnsley crematorium.

    BARNSLEY CREMATORIUM

    The incident happened on 6 February.

    Police are in the process of contacting the families concerned.

  8. Man sentenced after murdering one-year-old stepdaughter

    A Sheffield man has been told he must serve at least 19 years in prison after being convicted of murdering his one-year-old stepdaughter.

    Martin Johnson

    Martin Johnson, 20, from Sheffield, was found guilty earlier of murdering his stepdaughter Erin Tomkins.

    Erin Tomkins died of multiple injuries at Sheffield Children's Hospital shortly after midnight on 22 May 2018.

    Hospital staff found bruises on her face and body, bleeding to both eyes, bruising and bleeding to the surface of her brain, which was also swollen, Sheffield Crown Court was told.

    Johnson had denied murder but was found guilty by a jury.

    He was also convicted of two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

    The judge sentenced him to life and said he must serve 19 years before he could be considered for parole.

    He was ordered to serve six years concurrently for the grievous bodily harm offences.

  9. 'Who let the dogs out' - Pooch plays with police officer

    Police have posted a video of a dog trying to play with an officer as he conducts enquiries in Sheffield.
