  12. No evidence ex-PCC lied to MPs

South Yorkshire's former Police and Crime Commissioner will not face criminal charges for perjury, according to the police watchdog.

Shaun Wright gives evidence in 2014

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) says it will not be making a referral to the Director of Public Prosecutions after carrying out an investigation into complaints made against Shaun Wright.

It was alleged he had lied while giving evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee in September 2014 while still Police and Crime Commissioner.

Mr Wright, who was head of children's services in Rotherham between 2005 and 2010, gave evidence after a report found more than 1,400 girls had been abused in the town between 1997 and 2013.

The IOPC says it has found no evidence that a criminal offence was committed.
