Today we saw the launch of the Herd of Sheffield. 58 elephants across the city. How many have you seen?

They'll be auctioned on 20 October to raise money for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity

BBC Radio Sheffield's Andy Kershaw tried the #Elephantselfie challenge to see all 58 in six hours and take a selfie with each. 

Sadly he only managed 22!

Concern over parking around new Tinsley Meadows Academy

Building work continues at the new Tinsley Meadows Academy for 650 pupils.

It's being built on Tinsley Green.

The council plans to introduce parking restrictions at the main access points to the school and at junctions around some side streets. 

Hundreds of local residents are unhappy, they say they won't be able to park outside their houses. 

But Sheffield City Council says parking restrictions around schools are all about children's safety and regulations set by the Department of Transport.

There are now 58 elephants across Sheffield. They're celebrating all things Sheffield and are designed by a whole host of different artists working for different companies.

I've been trying to complete a #elephantselfie challenge today, getting round all 58 elephants in six hours.

I failed miserably - only 22 elephants. Scroll down this page to have a look at a few of them!

But nevermind, I met some lovely people and got some great shots on the way. Why not try your own #elephantselfie challenge?

Robber who preyed on disabled OAP is jailed

A man has been jailed for 14 years after robbing an elderly woman in Barnsley. 

29-year-old Tony Andrew Nuttall, who had a 16-year-old accomplice, broke into the woman's home in Summer Lane in Wombwell and stolen a number of items in May.

Three days later the pair returned and assaulted the disabled 63-year-old in the middle of the night and stole more valuables. 

Nuttall from Blythe Street, Wombwell was jailed for 14 years.

The teenager was jailed for four years eight months.

Gun and knife amnesty in South Yorkshire

For the next two weeks South Yorkshire Police is holding a weapons amnesty.

Anyone who chooses to hand in a firearm or knife during the 14-day surrender will not be prosecuted for possession, whether the weapon is illegally owned or if it’s just been passed down as a family heirloom and is no longer wanted."

All weapons to be surrendered should be brought in to one of the five police stations that have a public enquiry desk: Snig Hill, Moss Way and Ecclesfield in Sheffield, College Road in Doncaster, Churchfields in Barnsley and Main Street in Rotherham.

South Yorkshire Conservative support for Theresa May

The Home Secretary, Theresa May, looks set to become Prime Minister after her Tory leadership rival, Andrea Leadsom, pulled out of the race. 

Mrs Leadsom said she concluded she didn't have enough support to lead a strong and united government.

Kent Police is appealing for information to find a man reported missing from Aylesham.

Neil Turner, 61, was reported missing by family last Wednesday morning and officers are becoming concerned for his welfare.

Neil's described as white, 6ft 1ins tall, with brown hair and tattoos on his hands and arms.

He's believed to have links with the Doncaster area.

Brilliant news! Woman of Steel Nora Haines has been reunited with her precious war time photographs.

Nora was at the ceremony in Barkers Pool on 17 June and she was devastated when she realised she'd left her pictures behind.

Thankfully, a lovely man called Bob found them. With the help of some friends he was able to trace Nora's family through our Facebook Appeal.

Don't panic if you think you're seeing things in Sheffield this summer - but a herd of colourful elephants has arrived in the city. 

The beautifully painted fibreglass models are on display all dotted around in unusual places.

At five foot tall you can't miss them, and they've each been designed by different artists.

Ok, so I didn't quite complete my challenge of getting round all 58 elephants. I started at 07:00 and finished at 13:00 and only saw 22!

But I did get some lovely pictures and met some great people - scroll down for more.

So, if you fancy doing the challenge, I'd recommend spreading it over a weekend or at least a full day.

Watch: World champion Kell Brook prepares to face Triple G

It's being billed as the biggest fight in recent years as Sheffield world champion Kell Brook will be taking on much feared Gennady Golovkin. 

Kell, who was having his fitness tested this morning at Hallam University's boxing science centre, will jump up two weights to take on the undisputed middleweight from Kazakhstan. 

The results from this morning were very encouraging - he'll enter the ring a stone heavier than usual, but feels he can take all three world title belts from the man also known as Triple G. 

Bassettlaw MP says Tories are 'bulldozing in a new leader'

Andrea Leadsom has withdrawn from the race to become the next Prime Minister.

She said her backing from MPs is not "sufficient support to lead a strong and stable government" if she were to win the leadership election.

She says it is in the interests of the country to have the "immediate appointment" of a strong PM.

Sheffield's Danny Willett Open golf pairings announced

The pairings for The Open have been drawn today. 

Masters champion Sheffield's Danny Willett is grouped with world number one Jason Day and Rickie Fowler for the first two rounds of the 145th Open Championship.

Willett's group will tee off at 09:25 on Thursday, while 2014 champion Rory McIlroy is in the group behind with Hideki Matsuyama and Bubba Watson.

Man injured and house damaged in Rotherham gas explosion

A man has been injured in a gas explosion at a house in Rawmarsh.

Three fire engines were called to the property in Woodleys Avenue at 18:45 yesterday evening and firefighters found the building badly damaged and a small fire in the living room. 

The explosion is believed to have been caused accidentally by a camping gas cylinder.

The injured man was taken to hospital. It is not known how serious his injuries are.

Yorkshire have been asked to bowl by Surrey at the Oval this morning.

A win for the Tykes could take them back to the top of the County Championship just a few days after the shock loss against Middlesex at Scarborough.

Pub landlord shuts up shop to follow artistic dream

A pub in Barnsley's to be replaced by a housing development. 

The Monkey in Thurgoland is set to close soon.

But never mind, owner Anthony Youel has always fancied himself as more of an artist anyway.

He's selling up and moving in a bid to gain artistic recognition in Cornwall.

Christopher Cumpsty death: Can you help trace witnesses?

On the four-month anniversary of the death of 43-year-old Christopher Cumpsty, police have issued several images of people they believe may be able to help piece together his last movements.

Mr Cumpsty was found dead at his home in Cross Street, Balby, at about 04:30 on Friday 11 March.

A post-mortem examination concluded that he died from multiple injuries.

The CCTV images above show an unidentified man helping Christopher with his white van outside Cusworth House flats in Hyde Park. This footage is time-stamped at 06:06 on 9 March.

The other images below show a man and woman walking along Low Road, Balby, just before midday on 9 March, closed to wheer Christopher was found dead two days later.

While we are still trying to piece together Christopher’s movements before his death, we know he was subjected to at least one assault in the days leading up to his death. It’s clear he has a number of injuries to his body and ultimately, these injuries killed him. I appreciate that some time has passed, but any small detail could be key to us establishing what happened to Christopher."
