  2. Jo Cox MP birthday tributes: Full coverage tonight on BBC Look North

    Today would have been MP Jo Cox's 42nd birthday and memorials to celebrate her life have been going on in her constituency town of Batley in West Yorkshire, in Sheffield, London and around the world.

    Here in Batley, people are continuing to sign a book of condolence in Jo's memory as the speakers lead more tributes.

    Sheffield University say they've received notification of University and College Union plans to continue industrial action with a strike day tomorrow.

  5. Jo Cox birthday tributes across Yorkshire and beyond

    From Batley, West Yorkshire to Sheffield to Trafalgar Square and all around the world, memorial events are being held to honour the life of Jo Cox MP.

    Brendan Cox, husband of Jo Cox, has delivered a speech during a memorial event at Trafalgar Square.

    Sir Cliff Richard has said he feels "tarnished" by allegations of historical sexual abuse, after being told he will not face charges.

    The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said on Thursday there was "insufficient evidence to prosecute" the 75-year-old singer.

    Sir Cliff said he believed suspects in sexual abuse cases should not be publicly named unless they are formally charged and questioned.  

    South Yorkshire Police raided Sir Cliff's property in August 2014. He said he believed the BBC knew about the raid in advance as a result of contact with South Yorkshire Police at the time.

  8. Lawyers for families of missing Didcot men demand action

    Lawyers acting for the widows of the two Rotherham men trapped under the rubble at Didcot power station, are calling for a "definite timetable" for recovery work.

  9. Sheffield man found guilty of New Year’s Eve murder

    This 30-year-old man has been found guilty of the murder of 41-year-old Zabair Hussain in Darnall, Sheffield, on New Year’s Eve 2015.

    Idris Sadiq has been on trial at Sheffield Crown Court for two weeks and was found guilty of murder by unanimous verdict.

    The court heard how Sadiq, of Darnall Road, Darnall, violently assaulted Mr Hussain in Staniforth Road at around 23:20 on Thursday, 31 December 2015.

    Mr Hussain suffered extensive injuries to his head and body, and died a short time later.

  10. The end of 'My Local' stores?

    The owner of the "My Local" convenience store chain has announced its intention to put the firm into administration, putting thousands of jobs at risk. 

    The firm has shops in South Normanton and on Abbeydale Road in Sheffield. 

     Greybull Capital has lined up accountancy giant KPMG to act as administrator to its chain of more than 100 stores, which employ 2,300 people. 

    It's understood that staff were briefed about the decision yesterday, with management saying the firm is likely to officially fall into administration in the next couple of weeks.

  11. Doncaster manager 'expects three players to be sold' this week

    Doncaster Rovers manager Darren Ferguson says he expects three players to be sold this week. 

    The Football League fixtures were released earlier today for next season.

  12. BreakingSheffield man found guilty of Zabair Hussain murder

    A man has been found guilty of murdering a 41-year-old man in Sheffield on New Year's Eve.

    Idris Sadiq, 30, was convicted by a jury at Sheffield Crown Court of the murder of Zabair Hussian.

    Mr Hussain was discovered badly injured at about 23:25 on Staniforth Road in Darnall and later died as a result of his injuries.

    Sadiq, of Darnall Road, is due to be sentenced later.

  13. Sheffield Steelers' coach excited about new signing

    Sheffield Steelers head coach Paul Thompson says new signing Christoffer Björklund is an extremely versatile player.

    The 28-year-old defenceman has played his whole career in Sweden, including over 200 games in Allsvenskan.

  14. Plans for shopping centre on site of former Norton College

    Dyche Lane area of Norton, Sheffield

    There are plans for a retail park at Meadowhead on the site of the old Norton College on Dyche Lane.

    It would include shops, cafes and bars with a new junction off the Bochum Parkway. Councillors will decide on the application next Tuesday.

  17. Severe delays for people travelling down to Glastonbury

    There's a good atmosphere, which is just as well, because there have been long tailbacks on the roads leading to the festival.

  19. Tributes planned to mark killed MP Jo Cox's 42nd birthday

    More details now on the events taking place around the world to mark what would have been the 42nd birthday of killed Batley and Spen Labour MP Jo Cox.

    Tributes are planned in Sheffield, New York, Paris, London and in Mrs Cox's Batley and Spen constituency.

    Hundreds are also expected to attend events in Washington DC, Auckland and Dublin.

    People are set to gather in London's Trafalgar Square from about 16:00 today.

  20. Memorial for killed MP Jo Cox to be held in Sheffield

    Labour MP Jo Cox

    Today marks the 42nd birthday of killed MP Jo Cox, the Labour MP and mother-of-two who was shot and stabbed in Birstall, West Yorkshire, on Thursday.

    To mark her birthday events are taking place around the world, including here in Sheffield, where a memorial is planned from 16:00 to 17:00 at the Peace Gardens.
