The airport link road has been in the planning for the best part of a decade and even though it doesn't go quite to the airport (yet), it's still going to mean a lot to Donny.

The section opening today goes from the M18 to Parrot's Corner, about a mile away from the airport.

The second phase is planned and funded, but not built yet. That will be the road that takes you directly to the departure gate.

  18. Mushin Ahmed killing: Police condemn 'despicable' attack 'because of colour of his skin'

South Yorkshire Police have spoken after the sentencing of two men for the killing of Rotherham grandfather Mushin Ahmed.

Dale Jones and Damien Hunt, both 30 and from Rotherham, have been sentenced to 32 years and 14 years respectively.

Mr Ahmed, 81, was walking to morning prayers on 10 August last year when he was attacked by the two men in the East Dene area of Rotherham.

Quote Message: Hunt and Jones have never given an explanation for their own vicious actions that evening, but the court heard how Mr Ahmed was assaulted because of the colour of his skin, a fact that is as disturbing as it is despicable. To cause harm to another human being because of their race, ethnicity, or religious belief is simply beyond reproach, I will never understand how anybody can treat another person in such a callous and inhumane manner.” from Det Ch Insp Victoria Short
