  3. England Women to play Euro 2017 rivals Belgium in Rotherham

    England will host Belgium in Rotherham as they aim to continue their 100% winning start to the Uefa Women's Euro 2017 qualifying campaign.

    They will play at Rotherham United's New York Stadium on 8 April, the Football Association said.

    England have won their two qualifiers so far, thrashing Estonia 8-0 before a 1-0 win against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

  6. Meadowhall £60m refurbishment starts today

    A £60m refurbishment programme has started at Meadowhall.

    The work's being carried out at night and will be completed by the end of 2017.

    A woman from Sheffield is back on the TV show Come Dine With me this teatime. 

    Jude Calvert-Toulmin, from Norton Lees, has been chosen from hundreds of former contestants for a special Champion of Champions version.

  9. BreakingThree further arrests following Parkgate bank robbery

    Two men and a woman from Rotherham are currently in police custody being questioned by detectives in relation to an armed robbery at a bank in Parkgate, Rotherham, on Friday.

    All three, the men aged 26 and 36-years-old and the woman aged 27-years-old, were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

    Two people arrested over the weekend - a 52-year old man arrested on suspicion of robbery and a 39-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender - have been bailed pending further police inquiries.

  11. Sheffield Heeley MP calls on government to scrap plans to close Sheffield BIS office

    On Friday, we heard about a debate in the Commons over the government's decision to close its office for Business Innovation and Skills in Sheffield - with the loss of 250 jobs.

    Sheffield Heeley Labour MP Louise Haigh is now calling for people to sign a petition against the closure.

  12. Two arrested in connection with Parkgate bank robbery released on bail

    A man and woman from Rotherham who were arrested at the weekend over an armed robbery at a bank on Friday have been released on police bail. 

    The raid took place on Friday morning at the Yorkshire Bank on Broad Street at Parkgate.

    The 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and the 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

  13. Lobbying efforts fail for Sheffield 'Freedom Riders'

    A call for a £2m underspend in the South Yorkshire Transport Executive budget to be reinvested in restoring concessionary travel for older and disabled people has been rejected by a combined authority meeting of council leaders today.

  16. Headlines: South Yorkshire's Freedom Riders lobby the transport authority and police continue to investigate Doncaster taxi crash

    The top stories in South Yorkshire so far today include:

    • South Yorkshire's Freedom Riders are in Rotherham calling on the Combined Transport Authority to reinvest a £2m under-spend in concessionary fares
    • Investigations are continuing after two women died in a crash involving two taxis near Doncaster. Police want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the accident on the A638 Great North Road near the Mount Pleasant Hotel in the early hours of Sunday
    • There's a big industry event near Doncaster tonight talking about drones - flying robots usually controlled remotely. Alongside that people from around the UK are taking a course there today so they can use drones commercially

  18. Barnsley target two players as transfer deadline looms

    As today's transfer deadline gets closer, Barnsley hope to finalise season-long loans for Burnley's Kevin Long and Preston's Josh Brownhill.

    Meanwhile, BBC Radio Sheffield understands there's been no fresh interest in Sam Winnall, following Leeds' bid last week.

    We understand that Leeds will not be coming back in for the 16-goal front man.
