He says the plan after that is to "use [the site] as temporary parking for when the multi-storey goes".
The authority bought Shrewsbury's Darwin, Pride Hill and Riverside centres in January 2018 but admitted in June their value had slipped to £11m less than the £51m it paid.
However, Mr Nutting said the council was making about £2.3m from the centres this year and it was about to start £4m of renovations to the Darwin site.
