    The snow is starting to pile up in places, especially on hills in the west of the region.

    And the National Trust has taken the decision to close the road across the Long Mynd in Shropshire as a precaution.

  3. Tigers look to regain top spot with wins over Sharks

    Telford Tigers will regain top spot in their division if they win their back-to-back games against Solway Sharks this weekend.

    They're a point behind Sheffield Steeldogs with a game in hand and their NIHL North rivals play just one league game this week.

    In the Elite League, Coventry Blaze play the team just above them - Manchester Storm - home and away this weekend, and Solihull Barons face Billingham Stars and Whitley Warriors.

  4. 'Development will spoil historic buildings'

    Historic buildings in Telford could be spoiled by a proposed business complex, opponents say.

    A former windmill, known as Hadley Castle due to its turrets, stands at the corner of Hadley Park East and Silkin Way, next to a Grade II listed hotel.

    Shrewsbury-based Morris and Company has applied to build six light industrial buildings on land just north of them.

    Hadley Park House Hotel has objected to the plans, saying the project would be "far too close", but developers say a green “buffer zone” will be established between its site and the hotel and windmill.

    The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow in Staffordshire, and suggested there could be some travel disruption later.

    There's already been white stuff in Shropshire and Herefordshire and the BBC Weather Watchers have been sharing their photos.

    These were taken at Oswestry and Broome in Shropshire, and Lyonshall in Herefordshire.

  6. Hill snow warning issued

    Hill snow in the north of Staffordshire could cause travel disruption later today, the Met Office is warning.

    The yellow warning for snow comes into effect at 13:00 and remains in place until midnight.

    The Met Office says to expect some snow to also fall in Shropshire and Herefordshire.

  9. Cat cafe opens in Shrewsbury

    Shropshire's first cat cafe has opened in Shrewsbury today.

    Paws Cafe on Mardol allows people to enjoy a hot drink and a cuddle with one of its 11 cats.

  10. MP pours cold water on town's council-swap plans

    Broseley has been urged to give up its bid to switch local authorities.

    Town mayor Michael Burton said he wanted the town to switch from Shropshire's jurisdiction to Telford and Wrekin's in a row over funding.

    Ludlow MP Phillip Dunne said the switch would require a review and a recommendation from the Boundary Commission and is advising the town council to work with Shropshire Council instead.

  14. Road runners: School track made from bits of street

    The first of 15 new school running tracks made out of recycled roads has been opened at a Shropshire primary school.

    Shropshire Council is spending £105,000 on the project after getting money from the government. Criftins CE Primary School near Ellesmere is the first to benefit.

    Shropshire Council says there are 1,500 tonnes of unwanted materials created by road maintenance in the county. Each recipient will get material from roadworks near them.
