  8. Gobowen church holds Christmas tree festival

    All Saints Church in Gobowen has opened its Christmas tree festival today, with around 50 of them on display.

    They've been created by all sorts of local groups - the ones pictured below were made (from left to right) by The Mothers Union, Men with Sheds and Maesbury Metals.

  10. Severn Valley Railway asks for help in furnishing Bridgnorth station

    The Severn Valley Railway is asking for help in furnishing its Bridgnorth station.

    It's produced a list of authentic items it would like to collect, including 12 upholstered office chairs, a waiting room table and two cast iron umbrella stands.

    The railway is in the process of improving the station with an extension to the station house, at a cost of £5m.

  12. Passengers promised a 'bright, inviting' bus station

    Telford's bus station is being brought up to date and the manager of the shopping centre says it will become modern, bright and inviting as a result.

    Glyn Morrow added that the current bus station is old, outdated and not customer-friendly.

    The work should be complete in nine months' time and will involve the partial demolition of the existing building.

  13. Motorcyclist knocked off bike by Christmas lights

    A motorcyclist has been knocked off his bike in Oswestry by Christmas lights stretched across the road.

    The police say it happened on Station Road at 17:00 yesterday and the rider fell, hurting his arm, but escaped serious injury because he was travelling at low speed.

    They are looking for three people seen nearby at the time of the incident.

  14. Ice hockey: Charity 'teddy toss' planned for Pirates game

    The Telford Tigers are asking fans to bring teddy bears to the match against Hull Pirates tomorrow and throw them on to the ice when the first goal is scored.

    It's a tradition which comes from the NHL, where teams like the Vancouver Giants (pictured below) can collect thousands, but hasn't been done in Telford for around a decade.

    The Tigers are asking for the bears to be new and wrapped in plastic bags and says they will all be donated to Hope House and the Princess Royal Hospital.

  15. Hospitals chief exec says delay to health review will be brief

    The delay to reorganisation of Shropshire's hospitals will be a brief one - according to the chief executive of the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust.

    The process, which had been due to go to public consultation early in the new year, has been on hold after health commissioners said they wanted more work done on the plans.

    But Simon Wright has tweeted this afternoon to say that it will go ahead once a review has been carried out by the Clinical Commissioning Groups and that he expects this to be a matter of weeks.
