  2. Football: Shrewsbury winger joins Lincoln on loan

    Shrewsbury Town winger James Caton has joined Lincoln City on loan until the end of the season.

    The 22-year-old had a loan spell at Wrexham this season, where he made four appearances.

  4. More arrests in Oswestry stabbing investigation

    Police have arrested two more people in connection with a stabbing in Oswestry last Saturday.

    They say an 18-year-old man from Wrexham was arrested today and a 51-year-old man from Welshpool was arrested yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder

    They remain in police custody, while a 19-year-old man from Wrexham has been released on police bail.

  5. Police arrest member of staff at Shrewsbury School over sex allegations

    A member of staff at Shrewsbury School has been arrested over allegations of historical sex offences in Sussex.

    The school has written to reassure parents and say he has been suspended while the police carry out their investigations. It also says there is no suggestion that pupils at the school have been harmed in any way.

    Sussex Police say they arrested a man earlier today on suspicion of rape and sexual assaults on a teenage girl in the 1980s and 90s.

  6. A&E visitor numbers increase after quiet Christmas

    On Tuesday the hospitals in Shrewsbury and Telford were telling us that the number of visitors to A&E in the two weeks over Christmas was roughly the same as last year.

    Well, things can change quickly and last week the two hospitals saw A&E visitors increase by 17% on last year.

    That's 364 extra patients.

  7. Oswestry hospital responds to watchdog report

    The people running Oswestry's Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic hospital (RJAH) say a report by the watchdog Monitor gives them the opportunity to solve their waiting time issues "once and for all".

    Monitor says it will help the hospital make the improvements it needs and called for improvements to the accuracy of its waiting time data.

    The hospital gets a new Chief Executive, Mark Brandreth, in April and he said patients should be reassured by the "robust" recovery plan they had drawn up.

  9. Telford council cuts bus subsidies

    Telford and Wrekin Council is cutting the subsidies it pays bus operator Arriva by 30%.

    It'll stop contributing towards Market Drayton services and Sunday buses to Stafford, which will now rely on Shropshire and Staffordshire councils respectively.

    Arriva will take on the 519 Newport to Shrewsbury route as a commercial enterprise with no subsidy.

  10. Woman taken to hospital after Telford house fire

    A woman's been taken to hospital suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke after a kitchen fire in Telford.

    The emergency services were called to the terraced property on Dark Lane Drive just before midday.

  13. Football: Grogan to return to Telford defence

    Telford's Mike Grogan is expected to replace Curtis Tilt in the bucks defence for tomorrow's game against AFC Fylde.

    Tilt is serving a one match suspension, so Grogan is in line to make a rare start after spending most of the season on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

    Grogan was signed as a centre half, before being switched to midfield and told us he's more comfortable at the back.

  14. Land Rover Defender fan speaks about his love for the vehicle

    We've been speaking to Christopher Instone from the Shropshire Land Rover fan group, because the last Land Rover Defender, comes off the production line today.

    Workers cheered as the final vehicle came off the production line.

    We took Christopher's Defender for a spin around Bridgnorth and he told us the car is basic by modern standards, but easy to drive and you can do anything with it.  

    Christopher said the Defender holds its price well and he wondered if they might increase in value once production ends.

  15. No let up for flooded roads in north Shropshire

    There are still two flood alerts active in the county, covering the length of the River Severn.

    For some people in the county, there has been no let up and this road near Kinnerley was under water for eight weeks over Christmas.

    Then it dried up for a couple of days, but now it is flooded again.

  16. Football: TNS manager looking forward to tougher games

    The New Saints continue their defence of the Welsh Premier title at home to Connah's Quay tonight - their first game after the mid-season divide. 

    The top and bottom six split into two - only the leading six can now win the championship.

    There have been some cloudy skies over Shropshire today and the photos from our BBC Weather Watchers are all very gloomy and dark today.

    These pictures were taken in Whitchurch (top) and Albrighton a bit earlier.

    Still, it should clear up a bit this afternoon.
