  5. Football: AFC Telford United start key string of home games

    If AFC Telford United are going to avoid relegation, the next four games could be crucial - with all four being played at home.

    Bradford Park Avenue are the visitors tomorrow and win could lift the Bucks to within two points of safety, although they will have played two more games than the team above them.

    And both Eusebio Bancessi and John Cofie will be looking to make their home debuts.

  6. More number plate recognition cameras on the way

    The number of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras in the West Mercia Police area is set to increase dramatically.

    ANPR cameras are currently in place in 52 locations across Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

    By 2018 there will be an additional 89 sites, police say.

  7. Shropshire Council outlines cutbacks

    Shropshire Council says it's facing its biggest financial challenge for a generation, as it faces millions of pounds in cuts. 

    The authority says more than 150 services will be affected, with facilities such as libraries, leisure centres and parks under threat. 

    Services such as adult safeguarding, school transport and waste collection will be protected as far as possible, the council said.

  8. Man killed in Whitchurch crash had 'just got engaged'

    A mechanic who died after his car hit a tree near Whitchurch had just got engaged, Cheshire Police say.

    The family of 32-year-old Andrew Beddows from Nantwich said in a statement he was a loving, happy man who'd followed in his dad's footsteps by becoming a mechanic.

    His BMW left the A49 last Thursday night.

  10. Copthorne barracks future could soon be decided

    The decision on who should buy Shrewsbury's Copthorne Barracks could be made very soon, the Ministry of Defence says.

    Agents acting for the MoD are reviewing a number of offers for the site, which was being marketed as a potential site for housing.

    The barracks were put up for sale last August after the Headquarters of 143 Brigade moved from Copthorne to Donnington alongside 11 Signal Brigade.

  12. Ice Hockey: Tigers could climb to third this weekend

    If Telford Tigers win their two fixtures this weekend they could climb a place to third in the table, just two points behind the second-placed team.

    They travel to Swindon on Saturday to play the Wildcats and host the high-flying Peterborough Phantoms on Sunday.

    Kinton is our Place of the Week this week and while we were there, we discovered this amazing factory, which makes giant inflatable structures.

    Techtonics have been in business for 10 years and send them all over the world to countries including Australia and Canada.

    Even the canteen for their workers is inflatable.

    I met up with two youngsters from Thomas Telford school this morning.

    Zak Lilly and Joe Thomas have been selected to be in the England Schoolboys Under-18 squad and I had to ask them to show off their skills.

    And I wouldn't accept any excuses from Joe that he might get his suit dirty.

  17. Doctor Who actor to visit Telford

    Sylvester McCoy, the actor famous for playing the seventh incarnation of Doctor Who, and more recently Radagast in The Hobbit, will be appearing in Telford next month.

    He's going to be a special guest at the annual Comic Con event at the Telford International Centre, which is being held on 13 February.

  18. 'Rare' post box discovered in Oswestry

    A post box enthusiast from Essex is very excited about something he's found in Oswestry.

    Steve Knight says the box at the junction of Willow Street and Castle Street is very rare and was manufactured in the 1870s by a company in Birmingham called Bernard P Walker.

  20. Football: AFC Telford extend Hutchinson loan

    AFC Telford have extended Graham Hutchinson's loan from Halifax until the end of the season.
