  2. 'Right now tomorrow's looking bright'

    It should be safe to dance the night away at the Cornbury festival, with any showers not expected until tomorrow morning.

    The warm and humid weather continues into the weekend with temperatures rising to 20°C (68°F) on Saturday.

    There's a chance of showers on Saturday night and into Sunday, but many places will stay dry.

  3. 'Don't turn Oxford into a fairground'

    Debbie Dance from the Oxford Preservation Trust has been telling David Prever about the plan for a giant ferris wheel in Oxford.

    She fears the so-called 'Oxford Eye' could ruin views of the famous dreaming spires.

    But Lorraine Lindsay-Gale, Oxfordshire County Council's cabinet member for culture, said the goal was to "reach out to all parts of the world" to promote Oxfordshire.

  4. Travel latest: accident on the A34 south of Didcot

    Long delays are reported on the southbound A34 because of an accident at the West Ilsley turn-off.

    One lane is blocked.

  5. A portrait of the artist

    Oxford PR agency worker Steve Monk Chipman has entered a competition to find the best Vincent Van Gogh lookalike in the world.

    The winner gets to have their head sculpted in bronze as well as a sizeable cheque.

  6. BreakingPolice name 'murder victim'

    Police have named the victim of an alleged murder in Oxford as 53-year-old local man Jack Phipps.

    He is thought to have been injured in the Harefield area on 21 June and died on 1 July.

    Detectives say the cause of Mr Phipps' death is still unknown.

    A 48-year-old man from Oxford was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of murder and is still in custody.

  7. Travel latest: congestion on A34 near Oxford

    The A34 Western By-Pass in Oxford is partially blocked by a broken-down caravan.

    There are long delays northbound stretching from the Botley Interchange back to Abingdon North.

    A lane is blocked in Oxford on Banbury Road northbound at the junction Oxford parkway and Water Eaton park and ride.

    Traffic cameras show the cause is a broken-down vehicle.

  12. Weather: sunny spells this afternoon, some rain this weekend

    It remains warm and humid for the rest of the day and into the weekend.

    The main risk of rain is on Saturday night and into Sunday, as low pressure moves in from the west.

  13. Pedestrian seriously injured by cyclist

    Police in Oxford have said a man aged in his nineties was seriously injured by a cyclist at about 09:00 on Monday.

    The pedestrian was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where his condition is stable. The cyclist was not hurt.

    Detectives have appealed for witnesses who saw the accident at the junction of Marston Ferry Road and Banbury Road to contact them.

  14. The irresistible allure of Kidlington

    Keegan Wilson, senior press officer at the Ordnance Survey, has contacted the BBC about the mystery of coach-loads of tourists turning up in Kidlington and taking selfies in the street.

    He says OS records reveal that the village is "as good as any other part of Great Britain", with a long list of attractions:

  15. Oxford aspires to greater heights

    An 'Oxford Eye' is part of plans to boost tourism in the county, a leading councillor has confirmed.

    Lorraine Lindsay-Gale, Oxfordshire County Council's cabinet member for culture, said the goal was to "reach out to all parts of the world" to promote the county.

    The idea is contained in proposals by the Local Enterprise Partnership to be published on Monday.

  16. CCTV released after purse snatch

    Police in Banbury have said a "vulnerable female" had her purse stolen from her handbag on Friday 24 June.

    It happened at about 09:30 in Aldi in Beaumont Road.

    Detectives said CCTV captured images of a man and woman who may have vital information.

  18. Seven marathons in four days

    Tomorrow, Catherine Duff will start to run the entire 184-mile-long Thames Path in four days. 

    The Abingdon teacher is raising money for the Clwyd Special Riding Centre, set up by her mother and brother, which helps hundreds of people with special needs.

    She told Kat Orman about how riding helps children with disabilities.

  19. Traffic latest: Overturned car on the A34

    Highways England says it could take until 13:45 to clear the accident on the A34 southbound at Oxford, near South Hinksey golf course.

    The agency says traffic should return to normal by 14:45.
